Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi praises Indian para-athletes for their results at World Para Athletics Championships

India ended the championships in sixth place with 17 medals

The impressive medal tally includes six gold, five silver and six bronze medals.

“I am delighted by the outstanding performance of our Indian Para-athletes at the World Para Athletics Championship. Rising from 34th to 6th rank in just seven years, they have delivered their best performance yet at the 2024 Championship, securing an impressive 17 medals!” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in social media.

China came first with 87 medals, including 33 gold, 30 silver and 24 bronze. Brazil came second with 42 medals, including 19 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze. Uzbekistan finished third with 13 medals, including seven gold, four silver and two bronze. This is reported by

1073 athletes from 104 countries took part in the competition. It was the first Paralympic Athletics World Championships in East Asia, and the third World Championships in Asia after Doha 2015 in Qatar and Dubai 2019 in the United Arab Emirates.
