Indian economy expects US$450 billion through 5G by 2040

The 5G network already covers all 36 states in India

Indian Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the introduction of 5G technology could contribute significantly to the country’s economy to the tune of about US$450 billion by 2040. This is reported by
ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

Scindia said that 5G is not just about faster internet but also the foundation for smart cities, modern infrastructure development and autonomous solutions. He added that the 5G network has already covered all 36 states in India, touching 98 per cent of territories and 80 per cent of the population in just 22 months.

The Minister stressed that this is a testament to the country’s technological advancement and its ability to standardise innovation. He also mentioned the new opportunities that 5G brings in the areas of healthcare, education and agriculture.

“The wonders of 5G are the brilliance of artificial intelligence and the interconnected marvels of the Internet of Things. Things are transforming industries, societies and manufacturing processes and economies on a global scale,” he said. 

Earlier, Indian Government has urged telecom providers to participate in the 5G smart villages initiative.
