Indian city of Dharamsala inaugurates first solar project

According to official sources, the project will generate approximately 2000 units of electricity per day

The construction of this unit started in October 2023 and was completed in November 2024. This is reported by
IANS, a partner of TV BRICS.

The project includes 1,364 solar panels equipped with safety measures such as lightning and fire protection as well as earthing and communication systems to ensure electrical safety.

Sukhvinder Sukhu, head of the region, said the government is actively supporting the development of green energy and is developing a strategy to utilise solar energy. 

Seven solar projects with a total capacity of 72 megawatts will soon be handed over for implementation, while surveys for eight projects with a total capacity of 325 megawatts are underway.

The Chief Minister said that by 2026, Himachal Pradesh aims to become the first Green Energy State in the country to ensure environmental protection.
