India pursues efforts to bring the African Union to G20

India continues to invest in Africa

The Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Ggoyal, has emphasised the importance and potential of developing partnerships between India and Africa. At the 19th CII India Africa Business Conclave held in New Delhi, he said India considers Africa a priority and is committed to strengthening the relationship based on 10 key principles. This is reported by

Piyush Goyal especially highlighted a number of initiatives taken by India, including supporting the African Union at the G20 and advocating for the interests of developing countries on international platforms. India has also provided significant financial assistance to African countries.

The Minister called for expansion of trade and economic relations, setting a target of doubling the trade turnover between India and Africa to US$200 billion over the next 7 years. He emphasised the importance of developing technology partnerships and cooperation in the natural resources, agriculture, and MSMEs sectors that supply goods and services to large industries and are the backbone of exports from India.
