India hosts National Finance Olympiad for school students

Last year, 5,000 students participated in it

More than 100 schools and 5,000 students participated in the National Finance Olympiad in India in the academic year 2023. This is reported by
ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

The country’s authorities and business representatives are working to introduce the basics of financial literacy into the school curriculum, the publication said. And although only 16.7 per cent of Indian schoolchildren have a clear understanding of personal finance, related programmes are gaining support.

One such initiative has been the National Finance Olympiad for students of classes 6-12. It is organised at the intra-school and national levels.

At the end of the competition, participants receive certificates and reports on their understanding of various financial aspects. Winners and excellent students receive cash prizes and certificates of honour at the national level. The initiative encourages pupils to gain knowledge and make wise financial decisions.

The organisers of the Olympiad continue to develop cooperation with schools in the country and are recruiting for the 2024 competition.
