India finalises competitive egulatory framework

This was announced by Ravneet Kaur, Chairman of the Competition Commission of India (CCI)

During 15th Annual Day commemoration of the CCI, Chairperson of the Competition Commission of India Ravneet Kaur said that over the past year, the CCI has been focused on creating a crucial regulatory framework under the amended competition law, enacted in 2023.

The Attorney General for India, R. Venkataramani also spoke at the event, emphasising the importance of government regulations such as competition laws to ensure proper functioning of free markets. This is reported by
Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.

Kaur explained that the new regulatory framework includes provisions on settlement and undertakings, defining thresholds for merger and acquisition notifications, addressing the problem of hub and spoke cartels, and introducing the innovative concept of Leniency Plus to address the complexities of modern markets and business practices.
