India and the UN launches an initiative to develop the global South
This project will allow to implement the results of India’s G20 presidency
India and the United Nations have launched the Global South Capacity Development Initiative to provide expertise, best practices and knowledge to developing partner countries, national media reported.
The project was announced earlier by Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar at the “India-UN Global South” event at the UN headquarters in New York.
The initiative complements the South Asian nation’s partnership with the UN, whose portfolio of 75 projects has been implemented in 61 countries over the past six years.
The initiative will also realise the development-relevant outcomes of India’s G20 presidency. These include the Action Plan for Accelerating Progress on the Sustainable Development Goals, technological transformation and digital public infrastructure, as reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.
