India and Sri Lanka sign several MoUs
Sri Lankan President is on a state visit to India
The signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between India and Sri Lanka took place in New Delhi and was attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
In a joint press conference after the signing, Prime Minister Modi highlighted India’s significant support to Sri Lanka’s development. He emphasised that the cooperation covers all 25 districts of Sri Lanka and the selection of projects is based on the development priorities of the partners. This is reported by

Modi also announced assistance for rehabilitation of signalling system on the Maho-Anuradhapura railway line and Kankesanthurai port.
As part of new development initiatives, the Prime Minister announced that 200 students from Jaffna and Eastern Province Universities will be given monthly scholarships from next year.
“Our conversations focused on strengthening Indo-Sri Lanka economic cooperation, enhancing investment opportunities, fostering regional security, and advancing key sectors such as tourism and energy. These engagements reaffirm the commitment to deepening the partnership between our two nations,” Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.
The Sri Lankan President is on a state visit to India from December 15 to December 17. This is the first bilateral visit of Dissanayake to India after assuming office in September.
