ICT-focused business incubator opens in Ethiopia
Ethiopia has opened its largest information and communication technology (ICT)-focused business incubator. This is reported by
ENA.
The centre is jointly run by the country’s Ministry of Innovation and Technology and several foreign companies. Together, they will work to nurture a new generation of entrepreneurs to develop new areas.
“By integrating science, technology and innovation into its national agenda, Ethiopia seeks to build resilient institutions. The country is also determined to advance the green economy and foster an inclusive society ensuring that every citizen has equitable access to opportunities for growth and prosperity,” said Ethiopia’s Innovation and Technology State Minister, Baysa Bedada, speaking at the centre’s opening ceremony.
The head of the ministry said Ethiopia is committed to building a sustainable digital economy.
Participants at the opening ceremony said the new business incubator will be a key centre for building a strong national startup ecosystem.
ICT is a set of methods, production processes and software and hardware integrated to collect, process, store, disseminate, display and use information for the benefit of its consumers.
