Lawyers representing MK Party member Dr John Hlophe have described the case at the Western Cape High Court as an attitude of the racist section of the society.
The DA is asking the court to review and set aside the nomination of Hlophe by Parliament to be a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Advocate Dali Mpofu told the court that the application is nothing other than a racist approach.
“From murder, rape, child molestation and the worst, and then they come out and then five years later they can be a member of parliament and the president of this country. But no not Doctor Hlophe because why, because some racists cabal has decided that he must be permanently removed from society as the apartheid generals used to say. It cannot be and this is going to happen, they must go and campaign and win the votes and change the constitution and put in Section 47 something that says also the impeached judges must be included.”
