Former SARB Governor and Finance Minister Tito Mboweni passed away after a short illness, age 65.
Mboweni started his career in the new South Africa, post-apartheid, as Labour Minister.
Mboweni’s political career centered around economics and he became the Governor of the SARB and later Finance Minister.
Mboweni moved beyond being a numbers man when in 2024, the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University selected him as chancellor.
He obtained a noteworthy academic milestone when he graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration degree from the Asia School of Business in June of 2024.
