Global South Media and Think Tank Forum takes place in Brazil

According to the President of the Republic, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the forum serves as an important platform for exchanging ideas

Representatives from 70 countries are participating in the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as reported by
Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

“One of the key lessons we have learnt and promoted throughout the history of our agency is the need to engage with other media also focused on the Global South,” highlighted Prensa Latina’s editor-in-chief, Martha Isabel Andres, during the event.

It is noted that the meeting, which involves 350 specialists from 170 media outlets, think tanks, and companies, aims to create a platform for cultural exchange and cooperation. One of the organisers is the Xinhua News Agency, also a partner of TV BRICS.

The first day of the forum began with the reading of statements from the President of China, Xi Jinping, and the President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who emphasised the important role of the Global South in today’s world. In particular, the Chinese leader expressed Beijing’s aspiration to work with these countries to build a multipolar world and its readiness to support fair globalisation.

In turn, Lula da Silva described the forum as an important platform for exchanging ideas.

“The Global South is a concept that highlights the importance of developing countries. We are key players in the new global geopolitics and are ready to assume a position that aligns with our political, economic, and demographic potential”
