Foreign Ministers of Egypt and India stress importance of strengthening bilateral relations

The two countries’ foreign ministers held a telephone conversation

The Foreign Ministers of Egypt and India, Badr Abdelatty and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, reaffirmed their intention to deepen cooperation between the two countries.

During the telephone conversation, Jaishankar expressed India’s desire to develop and expand bilateral relations in the near future. This was reported by
Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS, citing Ahmed Abu Zeid, the spokesperson and Director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister Abdelatty praised the strong relations between the two states and emphasised Egypt’s keenness to strengthen cooperation in various fields of mutual interest.

Abu Zeid noted that the ministers discussed several high-level meetings between President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which raised Egypt-India relations to the level of a strategic partnership.

Information technology, pharmaceutical industry, and renewable energy are among the key areas of co-operation that have seen significant growth. The ministers also highlighted the recent launch of a direct flight between Cairo and New Delhi, indicating growing dialogue in the tourism sector.

Abdelatty praised India’s keenness to promote South-South co-operation and expressed Egypt’s intention to continue this engagement, especially given the participation of both countries in BRICS and Egypt’s upcoming participation in the G20 summit in Brazil in November.
