Ethiopia’s Minister of Agriculture meet with World Bank Executive Director for 22 African Countries
Ethiopia is pursuing various initiatives aimed at ensuring food security
Minister of Agriculture Girma Amente met with The World Bank Executive Director for 22 African Countries Floribert Ngaruko to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the development of the agricultural sector.
Ethiopia is undertaking various activities aimed at ensuring food security, including increasing productivity of the agricultural sector, increasing exports of quality products and reducing dependence on imports.
The Ministry of Agriculture is implementing various development programmes and projects, with the support of the World Bank and community involvement. During the meeting, the Minister and the Executive Director exchanged views on the Bank’s comprehensive support to the agriculture sector. This is reported by ENA.
The Minister noted that the government has been focusing on the development of the agricultural sector for the last 5 years and expressed gratitude to the World Bank for its support in the modernisation process of the sector.
He also emphasised the need to support Ethiopia’s initiatives to ensure food security by increasing productivity and using alternative water sources.
