Ethiopia to host First Session of the Preparatory Committee for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development
The session will be held in Addis Ababa in July
Ethiopia has signed an agreement with the United Nations (UN) to hold the First Session of the Preparatory Committee for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development to be held in Addis Ababa from July 22 to 26, 2024. This is reported by
ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.
The signatories were the Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the UN, Tesfaye Yilma, and Li Junhua, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs. The Ethiopian side expressed readiness to develop cooperation with the participants of the multilateral platforms.
The UN Under-Secretary-General and the Permanent Representative of Ethiopia discussed the need to galvanise the international community to make the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development a reality.
In 2015, Addis Ababa hosted the Third International Conference on Financing for Development, which adopted the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, a landmark outcome document outlining a comprehensive global financing framework for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The upcoming preparatory conference will review progress and gaps in the implementation of the programme and identify ways to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs.
