Ethiopia plans to cultivate 24 million hectares of land during the current agricultural season

The authorities of the African country are in favour of introducing new farming methods

Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, has called for increased clustering of agriculture to achieve national agricultural targets this season. This is reported by
Fana Broadcasting Corporate.

“These efforts must be strengthened. We plan to cultivate over 24 million hectares this year, racing against the rain to achieve this goal. Embracing modern methods is crucial for our success. These combined efforts will enable us to achieve food self-sufficiency,” the prime minister pointed out. He added that joint, coordinated actions will help ensure food supply in the country.

Earlier, the prime minister said the land under cultivation in Ethiopia is steadily increasing. Ethiopia’s economy received US$617 million from exports of products made in the country. Most of the profits come from foreign trade in cereals and oilseeds, the ministry pointed out.
