Egypt says BRICS membership opens new perspectives for country
Egypt’s participation in BRICS has opened new opportunities for the country to cooperate with the world’s largest emerging economies. It was stated in an interview with
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, by country’s Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk.
He emphasised the importance of the association as a platform for exchanging experience, which contributes to deepening trade and investment ties. Ahmed Kouchouk added that the New Development Bank plays a key role in financing infrastructure projects in BRICS countries.
In addition, the minister noted that China is Egypt’s largest trading partner. According to him, Chinese investments in the country’s new administrative capital and the Suez Canal Economic Zone contribute significantly to the growth of the Egyptian economy. In addition, the number of Chinese companies operating in various sectors in Egypt has increased significantly over the past 10 years.
“The level of bilateral relations has reached a strategic level, allowing cooperation across various fields. We have benefited from accessing the Chinese market,” he said.
The minister also drew attention to China’s achievements in technological innovation and infrastructure development, which Egypt intends to take into account in its future strategy.
