Egypt records increase in exports of chemical and fertiliser products in 2024
Egypt’s Chemicals and Fertilisers Export Council reported a significant increase in exports from January to September 2024, which amounted to US$6.5 billion, up 5 per cent compared to the same period in 2023. These volumes represent about 21 per cent of the country’s total non-oil exports.
Plastics and resins led the growth with an increase of 29 per cent, reaching US$2 billion. Exports of petrochemical products also showed growth, increasing by 71 per cent to US$1 billion, while exports of glass products increased by 22 per cent to US$199 million.
Khaled Abu El-Makarem, Chairman of the Chemical and Fertiliser Export Council, attributed this growth to the continuous efforts to improve the global competitiveness of Egyptian goods. This is reported by
Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.
He predicts that exports in this sector will reach US$8.5 billion by the end of 2024, thanks to increased global demand, improved local production capabilities, and supportive government policies.
