The “One Run” marathon brought together not only Egypt, but also 15 other countries from around the world. The run took place on 19 May and attracted more than 500 participants.

The race was organised by the Egyptian Athletics Federation and the country’s Ministry of Youth and Sports. Participants were asked to choose one of four distances: 1, 5, 10 or 21.1 kilometres.

The starting line of all distances was held near the Great Pyramid of Giza. This is reported by

Participants included representatives from the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Supreme Council of Antiquities, as well as athletes from the Russian Embassy and professional athletes.

The characteristic terrain of the Giza Plateau was an additional challenge for the runners due to many ascents and descents made difficult by the high temperatures.
