Egypt creates Environmental and Climate Policy Committee
This initiative promotes Egypt’s green transition
Egypt is actively developing its green transition by creating a new Environmental and Climate Policy Committee. This is reported by
Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS. Headed by Egyptian Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad, the committee brings together key ministries such as planning, finance, energy, and industry to jointly develop a strategy for the transition to a green economy.
The main goal of the committee is to develop a unified position on climate change issues, including national goals and participation in international negotiations.
An important role in the work of the committee is played by the report of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which serves as the basis for the development of policies in the field of green growth. The report, compiled in close cooperation with Egyptian ministries, experts, and public organisations, proposes a set of environmental policy measures addressing not only climate change but also broader environmental issues.
The Committee will coordinate efforts to implement the OECD recommendations, monitoring their feasibility and setting deadlines and stages of implementation. The committee’s tasks also include cooperation with government services and industrial structures to address environmental and climate protection issues.
According to experts, the establishment of this committee is an important step towards Egypt’s sustainable development, demonstrating the country’s determination to implement a green transition and contribute to global efforts to combat climate change.
