EFF calls for closure of Rwanda’s Embassy in SA

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)  has called for the closure of the Rwandan Embassy in South Africa, saying that there is no need to continue diplomatic relations with a country that undermines its sovereignty.

EFF leader Julius Malema urged President Cyril Ramaphosa to take stringent action against Rwanda if it is found to have played a role in the attack of SA peacekeeping troops in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Speaking during a media briefing in Johannesburg today, Malema again called for the withdrawal of South African troops from the DRC.

He says, “It is unacceptable for our soldiers to be caught in a conflict where their presence does not serve the interest of peace in the region. Should it be established that Rwanda deliberately targeted South African forces then President Cyril Ramaphosa must act decisively.”

Malema says, “If Rwanda is found to be directly responsible for the attacks on South African troops, then all trade agreements and engagements with the country must be revoked without any hesitation. The Embassy of Rwanda should be closed with immediate effect.”
