The event will also feature an exhibition of thematic photo works

The BRICS Youth Summit will be held in Ulyanovsk from July 22 to July 26 to provide an opportunity for young leaders and entrepreneurs from the BRICS countries to discuss topical issues of our time and find joint solutions. The initiative to hold the event in the region was initiated by Aleksey Russkikh, the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region, with the support of Ksenia Razuvaeva, Head, Federal Agency for Youth Affairs.

The key topics of the summit are defined as education, science, training, technology and innovation, health and sports, youth entrepreneurship, youth community service, and volunteering. The event will be the main event on the youth agenda of the Russian 2024 BRICS Chairmanship.

“Each topic is elaborated by a different member country of the BRICS group. We are very pleased that the issue of education, science, and enlightenment is a focus for Russia. The business programme will include a meeting of heads and directors of youth affairs agencies. This is a meeting that will be devoted to the strategy of youth cooperation development in the BRICS environment,” said Tatyana Ivshina, Director of the Ulyanovsk Cultural Capital Foundation and Head of the Russia-BRICS Project Office for International Youth Cooperation.

According to Artem Miroshnikov, Minister of Youth Development of the Ulyanovsk region, the development of international cooperation among young people is one of the priority directions of the region’s policy.

“We are really honoured by the trust given to us to host the BRICS Youth Summit. The Ulyanovsk region has the infrastructure to implement events of such scale; the experience of previous years proves it. Our region is unique. We are the homeland of talents and a region that is proud of its history,” Miroshnikov said.

In addition to a rich business programme, an important event of the summit will be the opening of the international photo exhibition “BRICS Universe,” which will be attended by pilot-cosmonaut and Hero of the Russian Federation Sergey Kud-Sverchkov. The exhibition will feature images taken from the International Space Station and by photographers on the ground, representing UNESCO Creative Cities – Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa – their colours, feelings, secrets, events, heritage, and the majesty of nature. A total of 48 Russian photographers (including those from the city of Ulyanovsk) and 41 foreign photographers from BRICS countries are involved in the project.

“We are eager to tell people about the beauty and diversity of the BRICS countries. We have a simple task: to show Russia to the world and allow Russians to better understand other countries,” emphasised Sergey Kud-Sverchkov.

The BRICS Youth Summit is organised by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the Government of the Ulyanovsk Region, the Ministry of Youth Development of the Ulyanovsk Region, the Russia-BRICS Project Office of International Youth Cooperation, and the Russian Union of Youth.
