Dubai tourism sector hits new record in 2024

Data highlights Dubai’s success as one of the world’s leading tourist destinations

Dubai’s tourism sector is booming, with the city welcoming 18.72 million international overnight visitors in 2024, an increase of 9 per cent over the previous year. The data was released by Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), reports
China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.

A key contributor to this growth was the growing number of Chinese tourists. Dubai welcomed 824,000 visitors from China in 2024, up 31 per cent from last year.

Dubai has been implementing various initiatives, including providing convenient payment solutions. During the 2025 Spring Festival, Dubai organised a number of festive events, including light shows and concerts.

“This achievement is the result of visionary leadership and strong collaboration between the public and private sectors,” said Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

He emphasised that the city aims to sustain its exceptional growth through strategic innovation, infrastructure development, talent attraction and market diversification. “By continuing to create new opportunities and value-driven offerings for the global travellers, Dubai will not only maintain its status as a preferred destination but also strengthen its position at the forefront of global growth in the sector,” he added.

The Crown Prince also emphasised Dubai’s focus on expanding foreign investment and attracting talent from around the world to further accelerate growth to ensure the city remains a preferred destination.
