Dorival Junior has become the head coach of the Brazilian national football team

The 61-year-old coach is to improve Brazil’s position in the South American zone in the World Cup qualifiers

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has made an official announcement on the appointment of Dorival Junior as the new coach of the national team.

A presentation press conference was held in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday.

Junior will replace Fernando Diniz, who was sacked last week after three consecutive defeats in World Cup qualifiers.

The 61-year-old coach is to improve Brazil’s position in the South American zone in World Cup qualifying. The country’s men’s national team is currently on the sixth place with just seven points and in a precarious position.

As a coach, Junior won the Libertadores Cup and three times the Brazilian Cup with three different clubs: “Santos”, “Flamengo” and “Sao Paulo”. This is reported by
teleSUR, a partner of TV BRICS.
