Delhi reduces environmental pollution by 45%
All pollution-prone industries have shifted 100 per cent to compressed natural gas
Gopal Rai, Delhi’s Environment, Forestry, and Wildlife Minister, said that Delhi has achieved a significant reduction in pollution by 45 per cent due to the government’s long-term action.
The minister emphasised that key factors contributing to this result include the switch to 24-hour electricity supply, which has reduced emissions from diesel generators, and the introduction of 2,000 electric buses to replace diesel buses. This is reported by
ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.
Another factor that reduced pollution was the planting of large numbers of trees, which improved air quality.
Conversion of polluting industries to сompressed natural gas (CNG) and increasing the forest green belt in Delhi has also impacted the environment in Delhi.
Rai added that the Delhi government is formulating a winter action plan to tackle air pollution.
