Cuba and Russia strengthen trade relations
The 39th International Fair (FIHAV 2023) kicked off in the Cuban capital
Opening the event, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel emphasised that Russia’s presence at the event is a sign of the country’s growing interest in the Cuban market. This was reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.
He emphasised that concrete results can already be seen in these bilateral agreements, such as the launch of the most modern steel plant of its kind in the country. He also noted the increase in the number of Russian tourists thanks to the resumption of direct flights from 1 July.
The Cuban leader said that more than 20 Russian companies specialising in different fields are taking part in the fair: chemical industry, computer technology, automotive sector, logistics services, food production, energy and others.
Cuba’s First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Ana Teresita Fraga reiterated the country’s readiness to strengthen bilateral relations.
“We have much to celebrate because our relations have improved in recent years, this shows the desire to bring economic ties to the same level as political ties,” she said.
