Chinese and Vietnamese leaders meet in Beijing
Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China, met with To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President of the country, in Beijing.
Xi Jinping emphasised the importance of the relationship between the two countries and parties, and the high level of strategic partnership between China and Vietnam.
During the conversation, Xi Jinping expressed willingness to establish productive working relations. He also noted that the two countries have demonstrated successful social development and stability, and called for strengthening political trust, security and practical cooperation. Xi Jinping reaffirmed China’s intention to maintain close strategic ties with Vietnam and actively develop joint initiatives, including cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and the Two Corridors and One Economic Circle strategy. He also proposed joint activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, aiming to increase mutual understanding and support between the people of the two countries.
Xi Jinping also told Lam about plans to deepen China’s reforms and their positive impact on the development of Vietnam and other nations. He suggested active exchanges of management experience and joint progress towards modernisation.
