China unveils country’s first intelligent rock-drilling robot

This marks a significant advancement in mining automation

The unique technology was recently launched at the Shuangkouping phosphate mine in Hubei province. This is reported by
CGTN, a partner of TV BRICS.

With a few clicks, a worker controlled a robot to perform precise drilling of 53 holes.

According to worker Li Daoyong, this new drilling method is much easier and safer than previous ways of working.

Rock drilling is a key step in underground operations. Satellite positioning, high-precision scanning and the use of artificial intelligence have all been implemented by engineers to control the robot.

The robot allows the operator to control multiple drilling rigs simultaneously, improving efficiency and safety.

The plan is to replace all drilling rigs with these robots in the near future.
