China is witnessing a green transformation of its road infrastructure: more and more clean energy facilities are being put into operation, changing the landscape of its roads. This is reported by

Photovoltaic panels adorn slopes and rooftops along the motorway connecting Taiyuan and Xinzhou. Charging stations for electric vehicles are becoming part of the road infrastructure, and amenities for drivers are expanding.

China is a leader in renewable energy and has the most extensive highway network in the world. The number of electric vehicles in the country is increasing, and the integration of road and photovoltaic (PV) infrastructure is developing.

The government is encouraging the establishment of near-zero-carbon road service areas and the construction of related photovoltaic infrastructure.

In addition to electric vehicles, other forms of clean transport are also being developed: hydrogen fuel and methanol. In Shandong Province, hydrogen vehicle drivers are given free travel, and Sichuan Province plans to accelerate the construction of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure.

Continuous upgrading of infrastructure along the roads promotes the development of a clean transport system and contributes to China’s carbon dioxide emission reduction targets.
