China sets up nationwide working group to standardise medical care
The country’s authorities intend to improve the quality of people’s health care services
China has formed a nationwide working group to coordinate the development of standards for medical care. The initiative is expected to improve the quality of service for people seeking medical care. This is reported by
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
According to the agency’s sources, the group will form a working mechanism under the leadership of China’s National Medical Products Administration, in coordination with local authorities, to develop a standardised system compatible with medical supply reform. As a result, the plan is to gradually compile a nationwide list of medical service standards.
Experts note that the establishment of the working group will provide a technical platform for standardising health care management services, procuring medicines, and controlling the spending of funds.
Since its establishment in 2018, China’s state medical insurance administration has developed and released 18 information coding standards, including for medical consumables, medical services, and medicines covered by health insurance. This laid the groundwork for inter-regional direct payments for medical care, reforming payment methods, and providing convenient and beneficial health insurance services, the agency notes.
