China plans to intensify cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in eight key areas. This was stated by Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan Yu Jun at a round table in Tashkent, where China’s plans for its presidency in the organisation were discussed. This is reported by

According to the ambassador, the growing political influence of the SCO is confirmed by the increasing number of countries seeking to join its ranks.
China intends to pay special attention to such areas as poverty alleviation, food security, health care development, effective project financing, climate change adaptation, introduction of green technologies, industrialisation, and development of the digital economy. More than 40 meetings and forums are planned in these areas.
Experts praised the results of Kazakhstan’s chairmanship of the SCO last year and emphasised the importance of further strengthening ties between the member countries.
