China launches first quantum computing institute for innovative medical solutions
Its objectives include fostering collaboration between quantum computing and medical research and training professionals in data medicine
China has inaugurated its first research institute dedicated to the integration of quantum computing and medicine, marking a significant step in the advancement of quantum applications in healthcare.
Located in Anhui Province, the Hefei quantum computing and data medicine research institute aims to revolutionise medical research and strengthen data security with cutting-edge quantum technology, as reported by
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, with reference to China Science Daily.
This pioneering institute, established by academic and technological partners, seeks to develop and apply quantum algorithms to real-world medical challenges.
Its objectives include verifying quantum medical algorithms, fostering collaboration between quantum computing and medical research, and training professionals in data medicine to address the country’s growing need for secure and innovative medical solutions.
This initiative is expected to create new opportunities in talent development and innovation within quantum medicine. Notably, the institute builds on prior achievements, such as using domestically developed superconducting quantum computers to enhance breast molybdenum target detection.
Current projects include accelerating drug development through the power of China’s state-of-the-art superconducting quantum computer.
