Chilean Foreign Minister pays official visit to Vietnam to strengthen partnership

Chilean Foreign Minister Alberto Van Klaveren emphasised the importance of strengthening relations with the Asia-Pacific region

Chilean Foreign Minister Alberto Van Klaveren is on an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart, Bui Thanh Son. The visit includes talks with the Vietnamese Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, and the Asian country’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Le Minh Hoan.

The Chilean minister had already emphasised the importance of strengthening relations with the Asia-Pacific region in order to open and expand markets, according to
Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to Klaveren, the role assigned to Chile is to become a link between Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region, an area to which Chile’s non-traditional exports will increase by 450 per cent between 2022 and 2023, from just over US$2.5 billion to almost US$14.3 billion.
