BRICS provides Iran and Russia with the opportunity to transact without the dollar
Tehran and Moscow have merged payment systems to strengthen financial and economic ties
The BRICS group provided Iran and Russia with an economically significant opportunity to transact without the dollar, said Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. This is reported by
Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
“Iran and Russia have common interests. In the Eurasian region, we can see that Iran and Russia are two important countries,” he noted.
During his previous trip to Russia, Ghalibaf delivered a written message from Iran’s leader to Russian President Vladimir Putin, stressing that the two countries have a long-term agreement that is very comprehensive. It covers various social, cultural, and political fields.
Earlier, the Iranian Parliament Speaker met with the Russian President on the sidelines of the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in St. Petersburg. The discussions centred on strengthening Tehran-Moscow relations and expanding cooperation under Iran’s new administration, led by President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian.
