Chinese Ambassador to Russia, Zhang Hanhui, stated that in the 18 years since BRICS was founded, China and its partners have worked closely to forge a path of mutually beneficial cooperation. Zhang expressed confidence that BRICS cooperation would further deepen the strategic partnership between China and Russia, injecting fresh momentum into the development of their bilateral relations.

“China is pleased to see that Russia has made great progress in its work as the BRICS chair this year,” Zhang said, adding that China will, as always, support the Russian side in fulfilling the duties of the chairmanship.

He said the BRICS countries share common views on international order, security, and development. They are committed to defending multilateralism,promoting shared development, and improving global governance. The expansion of BRICS last year marked a significant milestone in the group’s development.

“The expanded BRICS group now represents nearly half of the world’s population and accounts for one fifth of global trade,” Zhang highlighted.

The Chinese Ambassador also noted that the BRICS nations play an increasingly important role on the international stage, citing their joint efforts to support developing countries within multilateral forums such as the G20, as reported by
China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS. 

Zhang believes that ongoing BRICS collaboration will further enrich China-Russia strategic ties.
