Brazil’s national vaccine production gains momentum with G20 chairmanship
Brazilian Health Minister Nisia Trindade participated in bilateral meetings during the G20 programme held in Rio de Janeiro, where a memorandum of understanding between Brazil and China was signed.
“The time has come to join forces and move towards an increasingly flexible and integrated response in medical research. By signing the co-operation agreement, we are taking an important step forward in these areas,” the minister said.
This cooperation aims to advance biotechnology, medical surveillance and health innovation.
Brazil has also offered to strengthen national vaccine production and supply capacities to reduce reliance on imports and respond quickly to future disease cases, as reported by
Toda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.
As part of this year’s G20 summit, under the Brazilian presidency, local production of vaccines and drugs will be an important contribution to the country’s health sector.
Other topics addressed at the conference were fighting misinformation, tackling inequalities in the pandemic and transforming cancer treatment.
