Brazilian Rio receives top marks from tourists and locals alike

Through the survey, experts were able to gain a comprehensive understanding of the profile of tourists, identifying valuable trends for future strategies in this sector

Rio de Janeiro retains its title of “marvellous city” and is among the top ten destinations according to both locals and tourists. The largest influx of tourists is from Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais. Among foreign tourists, Chileans and Argentines are the leaders.

The survey, with more than 2,000 participants, was carried out on a voluntary basis to gain a comprehensive understanding of the profile of tourists, identifying valuable trends for future strategies in the sector. This is reported by T
oda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.

The survey was conducted during the period of highest tourist flow (New Year and Carnival), 64,27 per cent of those surveyed were local residents, highlighting the active participation of the community in tourism activities. Domestic tourism accounted for 28,85 per cent of survey participants, while international tourists, although in smaller numbers (6,88 per cent), play a key role in the city’s economy.

The significant presence of tourists from Sao Paulo (26,45 per cent) and Minas Gerais (11,96 per cent) emphasises the importance of domestic tourism, showing a strong representation of visitors from different regions of Brazil.

Rio de Janeiro receives high marks among tourists, but a detailed analysis reveals room for improvement that would strengthen its position as a leading tourist destination.
