Brazilian government announces new wave of medical professional recruitment for the national programme
The initiative aims to increase access to health services
Around 25,000 medical professionals in Brazil are participating in the national More Doctors programme, which aims to increase the population’s access to health services. This is reported by
Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.
In 2023, the government streamlined the programme’s implementation, improving working conditions and benefits. In early July, Brazil’s Ministry of Health announced a new wave of recruitment of doctors and medical staff.
The programme implies quotas for employees with disabilities and other socially vulnerable groups.
Brazilian Health Minister Nisia Trindade said that the new decree has set the goal of increasing the number of specialists to 28,000.
She noted that for the first time, the decree is in line with the quota policy, which is a priority of the federal government.
