Brazilian and Russian yachtsmen plan joint expedition along the Northern Sea Route

As part of the expedition, consisting of half Russians and half Brazilians, the team will depart Brazil next May and then continue along the Northern Sea Route

Brazilian traveller and writer Aleisha Belov announced plans for a joint expedition with Russian captain Sergey Shcherbakov along the Northern Sea Route. He told about it at a meeting in the International Multimedia Centre
“Eurasia Today”, a partner of TV BRICS, noting that the start of the expedition is planned for 2025.

Aleisha Belov, who has five round-the-world voyages to his credit (three of them solo), explained that his long-time dream was to circumnavigate the Eurasian continent and reach the Arctic.

He met Sergey Scherbakov during a train journey from Moscow to Vladivostok, where they discussed an upcoming expedition to Antarctica. During this meeting, Belov suggested a stop in his hometown, El Salvador, which was the beginning of their co-operation.

Belov emphasised that the need to complete the journey by the end of August is critical to avoid ice.
