Brazil analyses ways to increase the billing limit for businesses to qualify as individual microentrepreneurs
The initiative will stimulate the development of the entrepreneurial sector
The Brazillian government is considering improving access to individual micro-entrepreneur (MEI) status by increasing the turnover limit to R$144 000 (US$28 162) and introducing new tax rules.
This change will allow many entrepreneurs who previously did not qualify for MEI due to high labour costs to do so. This is reported by
Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.
The proposal will also increase the tax burden for companies based on their income, which is different from the current MEI system.
The new measures are aimed at easing the process of registering as an individual micro-entrepreneur, which will stimulate the development of the entrepreneurial sphere in the country.
