Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has reaffirmed his support for public schools in the north-east of the country that have been awarded Grade 10 in the 2023 Basic Education Development Index (Ideb). At a ceremony held at the Palacio Planalto in Brasilia, he expressed the Brazilian government’s commitment to reach 80 per cent of literate children by 2030.

According to the National Institute for Educational Research and Development, about 56 per cent of students in Brazil reached the recommended literacy level last year. This fact is reported by

According to the Brazilian leader, in order to offer high quality education, the teaching profession must be valued and incentivised. 

Lula calls for more efforts to ensure a high standard of education system and to achieve high literacy rates among Brazilian children.
