Brazil advances blockchain-based financial integration for BRICS trade modernisation

The integration of instant payment systems is under consideration

Brazil, as the 2025 chair of BRICS, is driving discussions on modernising international financial transactions to enhance trade efficiency among emerging economies.

The country is advocating for the adoption of blockchain technology to optimise contracts and payments within the group, as reported by
Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.

This initiative is a key element of Brazil’s trade and investment facilitation agenda, one of the six priority areas under its BRICS leadership. Official sources emphasise that the plan is aimed at improving transactional efficiency among member states.

Additionally, the integration of instant payment systems is under consideration.

Earlier, speaking at the 2024 BRICS Summit in Kazan, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva highlighted that economic multipolarity should be reflected in the global financial system.
