Beijing, has been announced as the host of the 2029 World Aquatics Championships, reports World Aquatics.

The event will bring together more than 2,500 world-class athletes from over 200 countries and regions to compete in six aquatic sports: swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming, open water swimming and high diving.

“The People’s Republic of China is deeply passionate about aquatic sports. We have a rich history of welcoming top aquatics athletes to our country. Therefore, we are honoured to be given the opportunity for Beijing to host the World Aquatics Championships – in 2029,” said Zhou Jihong, President of the China Swimming Association.

China previously hosted the FINA World Championships in Shanghai in 2011. In 2018, Guangzhou hosted the World Short Course Swimming Championships (under 25 metres).

In 2024, China will host the synchronised swimming World Cup in Beijing (5-7 April), the Diving World Cup final (19-21 April), and the Swimming World Cup (18-20 October). This is reported by
