ASEAN to discuss knowledge transfer and resource sharing in 2025 Malaysia’s chairmanship
This was stated by the Malaysian Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI)
ASEAN countries can take advantage of the significant opportunities arising in the digital economy, manufacturing, and supply chains through collaboration with the BRICS nations, which are the region’s dialogue partners, Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) said. This is reported by

Malaysian Minister of International Trade, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, said the digital economy sector had great potential, especially given the rapid development of technologies such as artificial intelligence, as well as demographic trends in ASEAN, where almost half of the population is under 30 years old.
“If we look at the cooperation with BRICS countries in the field of e-commerce, we can see that financial technology and digital innovation can open new pathways to strengthen trade initiatives in our efforts with other ASEAN countries and BRICS,” Tengku Zafrul said
Tengku Zafrul also noted that as ASEAN chair in 2025, Malaysia will be able to create synergies with dialogue partners, including BRICS countries.
“The manufacturing value chain in Malaysia and ASEAN can be enhanced through cooperation with BRICS countries,” he stated.
In addition, the ASEAN chairmanship in 2025 will also focus on knowledge transfer and resource sharing, Tengku Zafrul noted.
Malaysia will assume the chairmanship of the regional group on 1 January 2025.
