ANC remembers Mdladlana’s role in ensuring access to education

The African National Congress (ANC) has hailed the late former Labour Minister Membathisi Mdladlana as a leader who dedicated his life to ensuring that education is accessible to all. The former minister passed away at the age of 72.

He became a Member of Parliament during the first administration of the democratic government in 1994, led by President Nelson Mandela.

In 1998 he was appointed as the Labour Minister.

ANC Spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri says they are saddened by the passing of another member as they are still mourning the passing of Tito Mboweni.

“Comrade Shepherd would have been one of those that founded and were very active in the organisation, (structures) such as the national education crisis committee which later was transformed into the national education coordinating committee. Those of us who were active in the student struggles, you will remember his work in solidarity with students when we were fighting against financial exclusion, which is the modern-day fees must fall.”

Membathisi’s Shepherd Mdladlana is no more. MHSRIP, He really served the working class with flying colours as Metal workers we lower our banners .
