ANC PEC Lekgotla set on developing clear mandate in the North West

The ANC in the North West Province says its two-day 2024 PEC Lekgotla in Klerksdorp, which started yesterday, is set to develop a clear mandate to address the province’s leading challenges, including water provision, high unemployment rates, and maladministration at local government.

The party says this Lekgotla will also assess the government’s strategic plans in implementing the 2024 Manifesto of the ANC, and highlight the implementation plan on the priorities including the acceleration of infrastructure development and boosting the local economy.

ANC Provincial Spokesperson, Tumelo Maruping has lauded the meeting as important in shaping the party’s strategy.

“We’re intending to leave this Lekgotla with a clear mandate that is going to direct the ANC-led government on the priorities which were promised the people of North West in our manifesto. One is the issue of the infrastructure, particularly roads. The second one is the issue of water provision which is the biggest crisis in the North West as we speak. And number three is the issue of unemployment. You’ll recall that unemployment rates of the North West is number one in the country. Lastly, it’s the issue of turnaround strategies for local municipalities, particularly on their financial management.”
