Expert Council on Russia’s Participation in BRICS sets up at Russian University
It will be engaged in expert-analytical and scientific activities on the issues of cooperation in the association
As part of the strategic session “Russia’s Chairmanship in BRICS 2024: The Role of the Expert Track”, the Higher School of Economics hosted a presentation of the Centre “Expert Council on Russia’s Participation in BRICS”. The Council, in particular, will be responsible for information, analytical and expert support of the Russian presidency in the association in 2024, according to the press service of the university.
The BRICS Expert Council was established on the basis of the National Research University Higher School of Economics on the instructions of the Russian government and at the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance. It is expected to be engaged in expert-analytical and scientific activities on topical issues of political, socio-economic and humanitarian cooperation in the association.
“The Higher School of Economics today is one of the leading Russian centres in the field of international educational, scientific and expert cooperation. The university has an exceptional set of competences in these areas, and our employees enjoy well-deserved authority and have the highest reputation in their fields,” said Victoria Panova, Head of the BRICS Expert Council Vice-Rector of the Higher School of Economics.
She emphasised the primary role of the expert track in building effective cooperation between the BRICS member countries along the “second track” of diplomacy.
This year, the Council will hold a number of expert events to collect recommendations for the leaders of the BRICS countries on the development of comprehensive co-operation between the BRICS countries. The main results of the expert track will be presented at the BRICS Academic and Civil Forums to be held in Moscow on 22-24 May and 3-4 July, respectively.
