Brazilian President to attend BRICS summit in Kazan

This was announced by the ambassador of the Latin American country to Russia

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will attend the next BRICS summit to be held in Kazan, the country’s ambassador to Moscow Rodrigo Baena Soares said. This is reported by
Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

“Yes, Lula will attend the summit in Kazan in October,” the Brazilian diplomat said in response to a related question on the margins of the XII International Meeting of High Representatives in charge of security issues.

BRICS currently comprises 10 countries. In August 2023, six new members, including Argentina, were invited to join the bloc, but Buenos Aires declined.

Five new members – Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and the United Arab Emirates – joined BRICS from 1 January 2024.

Earlier, Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi that Chinese leader Xi Jinping will also
attend the BRICS summit in October 2024.
