China launches meteorological research satellite into orbit

The satellite will help predict natural disasters

China has launched a satellite from the Taiyuan space centre (Shanxi Province). This is reported by
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The satellite entered the specified orbit and will be used for atmospheric and marine research, space environment monitoring, disaster prevention, as well as scientific experiments.

The modified Changzheng-6 rocket is a new generation of China’s medium-sized launch vehicle. Its overall length is about 50 metres and its launch weight is about 530 tonnes. The payload capacity to reach the 700-kilometre sun-synchronous orbit is more than 4.5 tonnes.

This launch is the 514th for the Changzheng series launch vehicles.
