Modi expresses India’s readiness to contribute to the goals of the Russian BRICS chairmanship
The Indian Prime Minister mentioned this during his telephone conversation with the Russian President
Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, 15 January.
During the dialogue, the Indian politician expressed his country’s readiness to contribute to the implementation of the goals and objectives of the Russian BRICS chairmanship. The two leaders intend to closely coordinate approaches across the entire large-scale agenda of the association. This year, five countries – Egypt, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia and Egypt have joined the grouping.
“Had a good conversation with President Putin. We discussed various positive developments in our Special Privileged Strategic Partnership and agreed to chalk out a roadmap for future initiatives. We also had a useful exchange of views on various regional and global issues, including Russia’s Presidency of the BRICS”

Besides, the politicians reviewed topical issues of the development of bilateral relations of a particularly privileged strategic partnership. Putin and Modi praised the achievements of cooperation in such areas as trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, energy, transport and logistics.
They expressed interest in further intensifying mutually beneficial bilateral ties. This is reported by the official
website of the Russian President.
Note, the Russian Federation headed the BRICS association on 1 January 2024. Within the framework of the presidency in the bloc, Russia will hold more than 200 events of various levels and focus. The BRICS summit is the main event of the year, will be held in Kazan in October.
